One Little Indian

The OLI-US imprint has been busy with signings and tour dates. The label is the European home of Bjork. She will continue to tour Europe highlighted by a performance at Denmark's Roskilde Festival. She will then return on North America beginning with a show at the Virgen Festival in Toronto, Canada. OLI-UK will digitally release Earth Intruders Club Remixes, a five track EP featuring remixes of "Earth Intruders."

The label also announced the signing of Michael McDermott. His careers highlights include his critically acclaimed Gethesmane release in 1994, and two tracks featured in the Vin Diesel flick Knockaround Guys. His latest release is entitled Noise From Words. McDermott can currently be seen performing throughout the Midwest. He will also sing the National Anthem at Wrigley Field on June 26th.

Finally, OLI will issue the latest from Sweden's Surrounded entitled the nautilus years on June 5th in digital format only. The band has been described as being influenced by Pink Floyd's Meddle, along with The Flaming Lips and Built to Spill.

Old Crow Medicine Show

Another of my favorites is Old Crow Medicine Show. They will be taping a segment for Austin City Limits on June 9th before heading back out on the road for headlining gigs as well as a few festivals, including Bonnaroo. The tour is highlighted by appearances at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco, CA, In August, and Ryman Auditorium (formerly the home of the Grand Ole Opry) in Nashville, TN, on October 27th. Also, check out the band's collaboration with Marty Stuart on his new duets CD entitled Compadres: An Anthology of Duets, out June 5th. Together they put a fresh spin on The Who's "I Can See For Miles."

Enter The Haggis

Here are a couple of entries about some of my favorite bands. The first is Toronto, Canada's Enter The Haggis. This band boasts a mix of 18 different musical genres from rock to agitpop to traditional Celtic beats. Throughout their almost ten year history, this band has risen from local favorites to cult following to bona fide musical visionaries. Their most recent release, Soap Box Heroes, came out in late 2006, but the band has been on the road ever since. You can catch them in the States from now until November. In March, 2008, ETH will be taking their show overseas where they will tour Ireland with Kansas City-based Irish band, The Elders. In the meantime, you can also pick up their new live CD, Northampton, at all the shows.
